 eated the epic journey of Norwegian anthropologist and explorer Thor Heyer
 dahl and his four man crew\, as they floated from South America to the Pol
 ynesian Islands on a wooden raft. Heyerdahl made the journey to prove his 
 own scientific theory that the islands were inhabited from South America.\
 n\nThe original 8\,000-kilometre trip took 101 days and was filmed by Heye
 rdal himself for a documentary\, which won an Oscar in 1952. The new Kon-T
 iki film was a huge success in Norway\, and the Norwegian language version
  was nominated for several international awards\, including Oscar and Gold
 en Globe-nominations. An English language version was filmed simultaneousl
